Compressed Air Rockets!
Over term three hundreds of rockets took off from Pt England School and flew into the skies!
We used PET bottles, water, a cork and air which we compressed with a bike pump.
We learned quickly how powerful and wet the water-blast was so we made a blast shield and lift-off bucket.
We also followed strict rules to make sure our safety came first!

ReplyDeleteThat made me want to make one now because it is interesting. It is cool because it flies high into the sky.
Hi my name is Tiumalu from Awahono School. i really like the rocket. How high did it go and how did you make it?
ReplyDeleteKia ora Tumalu,
DeleteI estimate that some of the rockets went about 20 or 30 metres high in the air the when we pointed them straight up.
We made them by putting water into an old fizzy bottle then pumping air into the bottle. Have a look at the link I have sent Jackson for more details.

Hi I am Jackson from Awahono School.
ReplyDeleteThe video gave me the urge to make one and fire it into the sky. How did you come up with the idea?
Kia ora Jackson,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment! I came up with the idea by researching how to make rockets that didn't need fire to propel them into the sky. I found this great link on the Instructables website: https://www.instructables.com/lesson/Pump-Rocket/
Good luck making your rocket- make sure you stay safe and make sure the rocket is always pointing away from you and your friends!
