    1. Kia ora Tha Zin,
Thank you! We were hoping it would be funny.
Yes it was incredibly messy filming this movie. The girls in Clay Club can tell you how long it took to prepare their hands before every shoot.
When we were shooting we had to keep the camera far away from the clay!

    1. Kia ora Aja,
Thank you so much for your comment. I loved working with all the great actors in Room 21, 27 and 14- they are so good at looking ridiculously scared!
Thanks also for appreciating the music. We had lots of debate about which song to use. Eventually we chose this 'old' song that I remembered from 20 years ago!

  6. Kia Ora, Pt England School! I am a student from Tamaki Primary and is also in class 10. You may have seen the video called the "Sugar Rap"! And yes, that was my class video.. I don't really have time to explain more about the video, but anyways, your video was outstanding! And was also interesting! Why? Because, to me, the ,main message in this video was, making friends with others, even though they look different to you! No matter if there an Alien, or a Dolphin or anything, at least we have the power to share kindness across our whole planet! Was it great making friends(I think), with the clayiens?
Keep your creativity up, Pt England.

    1. Kia ora Constance,
I loved the 'Sugar Rap'! It was very clever, funny, informative and entertaining. I especially liked your rhymes and how you had two people rapping and echoing for each verse. That must have taken lots of practise!
I think you have described the message of our film perfectly. As well as being a comedy it is about friendship and communication with others.
We made great friends with the clayliens and now they are running all over Pt England School!

    1. Kia ora Ben,
Thank you. I love the Beastie Beastie Beastie Boys so was excited to use this classic nineties hip hop track in our film.
The Clay Club brainstormed about how to make a film with clay creature visiting the school and had lots of ideas.
We decided on the claylien for two reasons; Firstly because hands can move and communicate with expression. Secondly ,because any actor with hands can play the alien part, as you can see in our credits!

  9. Kia ora,
Thank you Kitione, thanks to all of you for taking part and Miss Davis for letting me film in your room of incredible actors!
We moved the alien ship by placing it on a green cloth and slowly pulling it across a green screen on the floor. I can show you in Maker space next time you visit.

  13. Thanks Miss Eadie,
I hope it wasn't too scary for you. We were a little worried we might frighten the little kids but we didn't think about creeping out the teachers! Watch out for us Clayliens walking around outside your classroom...

      Ooooh, that's a hard question!
I think my favourite part is the zoom in on Room 14 when they are all going crazy on the mat. I also like the second dab because it fits in well with the music and lyrics of the song!

This film was really amusing to me because of how comical it was. Every time the camera zoomed in in a person reacting to the strange alien figure. Great work!

  20. Hi Mr Vogt and the Clay Club

Great movie that was original, entertaining and interesting to watch. Cool how there was no dialogue but you could still tell that there was a storyline. Loved the facial expressions and the close ups. Well done Mr Vogt and the Clay Club team. Deelani and Delijah were awesome presenters.

    1. Kia ora Tiumalu,
Thank you for your compliment! For the hands and the UFO above the school we used green screens and a green sleeve to cover the actors' arms. When the UFO crash-landed and took off we spent lots and lots of time throwing clay into the air!
