RECYCLEMONSTER

Have you ever seen a Recyclemonster?

Well I have...

It was very big and very scary!
Watch out…

Because if you don’t put your rubbish in the bin…

    1. Kia ora Hazel,
Thanks so much, I liked the following scenes too. That's a good question about what Makerspace will film in 2019! Googly Eyes was about a box, CLAYLIEN about a lump of clay and RECYCLEMONSTER about a rubbish bin. We need to think about what the next random object we find. What do you think we should use?

Thank you for your comment! We worked hard on our movie. The first shots zoomed into Laolao, Delijah then Toni when they see the Recylemonster. The last shot before the Kiki challenge was zooming in on Toni's face.

  5. Awesome movie! I enjoyed it a lot. Despite the movie being a bit creepy with the living rubbish bin, I found it quite funny. The dancing was great too. Keep up the great work!

  6. Kia Ora Maker space people I like your movie about the RECYCLEMONSTER i like how laolao turned around then it was delijah then toni and all ran away because they didn't put there rubbish in the bin. Can I ask you guys a question how did you fit the BIG RECYCEMONSTER through the door?

    1. Kia ora Punaiauru,
Thanks for your positive feedback.I love that shot too- it took us at least five takes to get it right but was worth the effort! Good question about getting the Recyclemonster through the door. The bin is very wide from the front, but just skinny enough on the sides for Daniella to squeeze it through the door.
Thanks for your comment on the dancing- all the actors worked really hard on practising to get it just right. We shot the dancing scene over and over until we were satisfied it was good enough for the film festival.

Thank you! We wondered about adding more things (like a chase all around GI and the school)but in the end decided to keep it simple and give enough time for the dancing!

  9. Hi Makerspace!
My name is Mikaela and I am a Year 8 student from St Pius X Catholic School. I really like your movie because it was funny and taught people to always put their rubbish into the bin. I think your dancing in the end was a good way to finish the movie. Keep it Up!

    1. Kia ora Mikaela,
Thanks for your lovely feedback, we always try to make our movies funny while so sending a message. At first I wasn't sure whether we should have had the dancing, but when the students showed me how well they could choreograph and perform the Kiki challenge that scene definitely 'made the cut' !

  10. Hi Makerspace,
I really enjoyed your movie the part I liked was when Mata was braver than the other girls and threw her rubbish in the recycle monster another one of my favourite part was at the end where all the girls started dancing!. How did you come up with the idea for this movie? Keep up the great work!

    1. Kia ora Tha Zin,
Thanks for your positive feedback. I really liked that scene too- especially the expressive facial acting. The dancing was awesome as everyone worked really hard to get it right. It was difficult with four actors crouched behind the Recyclemonster waiting for their cue to jump out! We are lucky to have such awesome dancing skills at PES!

I came up with the idea after watching the Recycling Rhinos losing control of the 660 litre recycling bin at lunchtime and noticing that it looked like it had a mind of its own...

  12. Hi my name is Amelia and I’m from Stonefields School. I like the fact that you included different types of music. I also liked the fact that you included different types of rubbish. Have you ever dropped a piece of rubbish before?

    1. Kia ora Amelia,
Thanks for noticing the music, we knew that our movie wouldn't work unless we had the right type of spooky music so searched for a tense, dramatic track that contrasted with the upbeat Drake track. Its awesome that you noticed the different types of rubbish that can be recycled!
I was taught from a very early age to be a tidy kiwi and keep Aotearoa New Zealand beautiful so, no I haven't dropped any rubbish , I know I would feel terrible if I did!

Thank you for your awesome comment, I'm glad that lots of the Pt England movies this year had the message of putting your rubbish in the right bin. You are an expert at this from being Rm 11's Bincurity Station Monitor all through term 3!

Thank you for reminding us of what happens when we don't throw our rubbish in the bin- it will end up in rivers and oceans and kill animals.

We look forward to making our 2019 film too- what do you think we should film next time?
