The Roots at Pt England- No Six video
It has been an amazing experience to have The Roots at Pt England this term helping us create our vertical gardens, water filters, water tanks and teach us so much about the water in our environment.
We were also lucky to have the crew at No Six helping us, taking beautiful photos and making this awesome video.
No Six is a multi-platform digital media brand curating, developing and connecting a new generation of young content creators from the South Pacific to global audiences. They are based in Tāmaki Glen Innes.

Robotics Rōpū Soft Plastic Compactor Prototyping

Leilani films modifying a plastic bin
This week we started experimenting with compression to reduce the size our soft plastics recycling bins.
We are drilling, cutting and sliding small plastic bins as prototypes.

Freedom compresses rubbish
As much as we compressed the soft plastics, they would expand again. Tha Zin had a 'eureka' moment when she thought of bagging up the plastic before compression.
We don't want to buy any bags. Luckily we had a roll of old plastic lying around so our new challenge was how to turn it into a compression bag.
EUREKA!

We are writing down our ideas to record our learning but the ZTL team had to work together to safely drill holes in their Prototype. They used their laptops to film their learning so they can review their techniques and ideas.

Robotics Rōpū begins!
Matt and Carsten from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare help our Robotics Rōpū brainstorm ideas about how we can use technology at Pt England School to reduce waste.
Our Rōpū had some amazing ideas and and shared them with each other instantly through shared slides and docs. We are using our blogs to share our progress with the school and the world.
